1) Master Classes are the epitome of bridging the gap between theory and practice at Columbia Business School. Please provide an example from your own life in which practical experience taught you more than theory alone. (500 word limit)
The validity of the theory is always proved by practice. If the theory can stand the test of being put into practice, then it indeed is a success. ………………………………………………….. Theory provides the method while the practical application teaches the minute details of the execution. Just like the proof of the pudding lies in the eating, the test of a theory lies in its practical implementation. Having said this, I have to admit that there are certain innate traits like initiative, exuberance and strong result focus which enable a person to succeed. A time in my life, when all these personality traits combined to provide me with an ………………………….. transpired during the XXXX Traffic Optimization Initiative. When I executed this project, I had no background or training in sustainability management and consulting. However, this practical experience gave me rich insights into all it takes to excel in life. My inherent propensity to personality trait- ‘initiative’ was exemplified best by the XXX Traffic Optimization Initiative in KKK, which I envisaged and implemented. This achievement shortened and improved the daily commute of thousands of time pressed IT professionals, besides significantly decreasing the environmental pollution and ………………………. cars. XXXX IT Park is a Software Hub to which 46,000 IT professionals commute every day. Based on responses of …………………………………………… increased bus fleets. My report was presented to key Government stakeholders and publicized in the local media. The real obstacle was to get the buy-in of ABC (local Public Transport authority) to start high frequency bus service. ……………………………………………………….. It took another 5 months of persistent effort before 55 new buses were started on suggested routes, which reduced the commute time by ………………………….%. 1600 tonnes of carbon footprints were saved annually. This achievement exposed me to the need for sustainable economic development and redefined my career goals.Though this was a noteworthy attempt, but was a case of strong intentions forging the way for right and ………………………………………………………… culmination. However, if I had had the right training, theoretical grounding into aspects of …………………………………………………… of the result could have been enhanced. At Columbia, I look forward to being endowed with the right influx of theory and practice through the ground breaking master classes.

The report intended to offer the client insights on how to improve sales strategies and boost productivity. However, it emerged as a shallow document because the team could not envision the long term perspectives and …………………………………. The reports were not dynamic enough in terms of functionality, as I discovered at the last minute. Consequently, I stepped in to …………… and the project got delayed by a fortnight.
