  • International candidates are strongly encouraged to apply by the Round 1 or Round 2 deadline.

Application Fees:

  • Application fee of $250 to be paid online with a credit card.
  • Please note that this application fee is non-refundable and application will not be evaluated until the correct fee has been received.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized college or university. (Applicants who are part of an international educational system where three-year undergraduate programs are the norm (e.g., India, United Kingdom) are eligible to apply)
  • Kellogg strongly recommends applicants to have at least 2 years of work experience Average work-ex of current class is 5 years, ranging between 2 to 10 yrs.
  • A GMAT score is required. No minimum score is required for admission but average GMAT score of current class is 714.
  • Kellogg does not accept GRE scores.
  • International applicants whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL exam.
    • Exemptions will be granted for international applicants who received an undergraduate degree from an institution where English was the ONLY language of instruction and have provided documentation to support this claim.
    • Degrees from on-line or distance learning programs do not qualify for an exemption.

Supporting Documents:

  • Academic: -
    • A scanned copy of the official transcript or an uploaded electronic version provided by the institution.
    • Self-reported transcripts will not be accepted.
    • Hard-copy official transcripts will be required upon matriculation only.
    • Applicants who scan images of transcripts should ensure that all sides and pages of the transcript are included in the scanned document. Be sure the scanned version is legible. Submission of an illegible document will result in an incomplete application and possible delay in rendering an application decision. 
    • If academic records and diplomas are not issued in English by the institution, submit both the original record and an authorized verbatim English translation.
    • All records must show the name of the institution, the dates of enrollment, courses taken, units of credit, marks or ratings in each subject, rank in the total class or group (if available).
  • GMAT: 
    • Please arrange to have Pearson Vue submit your official test GMAT scores directly to Kellogg, GMAT code for Kellogg’s Full-Time MBA is 6WZ-3J-89 GMAT scores are valid for five years.
    • Applicants should self-report GMAT scores in Part I of the application. The Kellogg School will record the highest score but encourages applicants to report additional scores if the test is taken more than once.
    • If a test date is scheduled after the applicant wishes to submit Part I, the scheduled test date should be recorded in the GMAT Test section of the application. Updated test scores can be self-reported in Part II of the application.
    • Submission of additional test scores after submission of Part II will be accepted, but there is no guarantee the new score will be evaluated at the time the file is reviewed by the admissions committee. Official score reports can be e-mailed to mbaapplicant@kellogg.northwestern.edu.
    • Please note, an application with no self-reported GMAT score will be considered incomplete until a score is received and will likely result in a delayed notification decision after the designated application deadline. 
    • Candidates must request that scores be sent to Kellogg. Allow three weeks for Kellogg to receive the scores. We recommend that candidates upload the official GMAT score report, if available.
  • English Proficiency: 
    • A valid TOEFL score is required for all candidates who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents or International students who don’t may qualify for an exemption.
    • For English test takers submit official scores through reporting agency. For Toefl applicant can arrange to have ETS report official test scores directly to Kellogg, code 1546
    • Test scores are valid for two years.
    • Kellogg does not accept the TSE or IELTS

Interview:

  • Applicants requesting an off-campus interview will be notified of their assignment or waiver via e-mail within eight weeks of submitting Part I.
  • Off-campus interviews are conducted by the admissions staff or members of the Kellogg School’s Alumni Admissions Organization (AAO).
  • Candidates will be notified of an off-campus interview assignment in one of two ways. An e-mail may be sent requesting the candidate to register for a Kellogg Interview Day (KID). The vast majority of candidates will receive an e-mail notification with the interviewer’s contact information. Because applicants may not receive e-mails due to spam filters, thus periodically view the Check Application Status page on the Kellogg Full-Time website. The interviewer’s contact information will be posted on this page when an assignment is made. The candidate is responsible for contacting the interviewer to arrange for a mutually convenient time and location.
  • School does not specify a date by which the off-campus interview must be conducted but recommends but strongly recommend the interview be completed within 21 days of receipt of the assignment. Applicants should contact the interviewer immediately upon notification. And if an interview will take place more than 21 days after the assignment is made or if the interview is scheduled to take place within three weeks of the decision release deadline, please notify the Office of Admissions at aaoadmissions@kellogg.northwestern.edu so that school is aware the interview has been scheduled.
  • International applicants who apply in Round 3 and request an off-campus interview may be selected to interview by invitation only.

  1. MBA Program applicants - Briefly assess your career progress to date. Elaborate on your future career plans and your motivation for pursuing an MBA. (600 word limit)
  2. Describe your key leadership experiences and evaluate what leadership areas you hope to develop through your MBA experiences (600 word limit). 
  3. Assume you are evaluating your application from the perspective of a student member of the Kellogg Admissions Committee. Why would you and your peers select you for admission, and what impact would you make as a member of the Kellogg community? (600 word limit). 
  4. Complete one of the following three questions or statements. (400 word limit)  Re-applicants have the option to answer a question from this grouping, but this is not required. 
    1. Describe a time you had to inspire a reluctant individual or group. 
    2. People may be surprised to learn that I….. 
    3. The riskiest personal or professional decision I ever made was…..
     
  5. Required essay for re-applicants only – Since your previous application, what steps have you taken to strengthen your candidacy? (400 word limit)

Recommendations/Evaluations:

  • The two online recommendation forms are required.
  • School prefers that at least one recommendation comes from a current supervisor or manager. If applicants are unable to ask a current supervisor or manager for a letter of recommendation, they should include a brief statement regarding their choice in the Additional Information section of Part II of the application. 
  • The second recommendation should be from someone who can evaluate the applicant’s professional performance as well as their managerial and leadership potential (e.g. a former supervisor, previous employer, client, etc.). Additional letters of support are neither required nor encouraged.
